In my case, I have an All Access Membership. You can then select Manage.

A Peloton user can give out six referral codes a year.

You can do this if you are an app user, only an all-access user.

It must be used simultaneously as the purchase of the Bike or Tread. It cannot be applied retroactively.

If you purchase hardware at a showroom with a referral code, you can let an employee know, and they will apply it for you at the time of purchase. This is how I did it in 2017 when I bought my first bike!

Peloton rides are known for their excellent playlists, and years ago, we could not save the great music we heard on a ride or run. But now we can!

Peloton added the functionality to favorite a song you hear in a class by clicking on a heart next to it. 

When you do this it will add the song to a Peloton music playlist on Apple Music or Spotify if this feature is set up.

Connecting Peloton to Apple Music and Spotify is easy, and I will tell you how here.

We can access vast music catalogs and create customized playlists from the music heard during Peloton workouts by connecting these services. 

Setting up the connection to Apple Music or Spotify

With Peloton, it is possible to connect both Apple Music and Spotify, providing users with an expansive library of songs to save on a personal playlist.

Connecting either service to your Peloton is a relatively simple process that can be completed in just a few steps.

To connect Apple Music or Spotify to your Peloton, you will need the account login credentials for the streaming service you want to use. 

Once you have those ready, you must open the settings menu on your Peloton device, which can be found at the bottom left corner of the touchscreen.

From there, scroll down and select 'Music' followed by 'Connect Apple Music' or 'Connect Spotify', depending on which service you want to link up with.

Linking to Apple Music or Spotify allows you to access songs saved directly from your Peloton. 

Here are a few helpful tips for connecting to Spotify or Apple Music. 

First, ensure that the Peloton app and the streaming service are up-to-date.

Ensure you have the credentials for the app you want to connect to and for your bike.

Then link your account by entering your credentials on the settings page in the Peloton app.

If you have any issues with any of this, try rebooting your Peloton bike or Tread.

Can you listen to your own music on Peloton?

Many users may wonder if they can listen to their music on Peloton.

You cannot directly play music on the Peloton Bike or Tread from your Apple Music or Spotify account. 

I have seen other articles that are misleading on this topic. Unless there is a hack I am unaware of (like the hack the watch Netflix on the bike), you cannot stream actual playlists from Spotify or Apple Music through the Peloton cycle. 

You will only be listening to your music while working out by listening to it via your device (phone or speaker).

Connecting to these streaming services from the Peloton hardware saves the music you hear during rides or runs to a Peloton music playlist.

You can also do a "just run" or "just ride" workout and listen to your music via an external speaker or headphones and your phone.

I love my Peloton; if you look around my site a bit, you will see my obsession.

The built-in speaker on the Peloton tablet is okay, but the music isn't loud enough for me. One of the best parts of riding a stationary bike for me is the music and instructor. I like it loud.

I tried using various Bluetooth speakers, including an Amazon Echo and other brands, and the Echo works excellently as a speaker for the Peloton, but there are times (most of the time) I don't want my kids to hear the ride.

Plus, it still was less loud than having earbuds in your ear. I also tried using my husband's insane sound system, but it had a Bluetooth lag due to being across the room.

I tried other headphones, including the ones that Peloton sells themselves. But they were wired, and wires can be constraining on the bike. I tried my husband's Bluetooth headphones, and they were okay, too, but I wouldn't say I liked sharing.

Finally, I received AirPods for my birthday a couple of years ago, and it was a game-changer. They work with the Peloton, and they are loud.

The best part for me is that the minimal design means no wires, nothing around my neck, and none of the issues I found annoying with other earbuds and headphones.

 Introduction to Airpods

AirPods are the perfect accessory for any music or audio enthusiast. Whether you're looking to upgrade your workout experience with a top-of-the-line pair of headphones or want something that fits your lifestyle, AirPods has got you covered.

They have advanced features like active noise cancellation and wireless charging capabilities, so you can enjoy crisp sound no matter where life takes you.

Connecting them to Peloton is simple and straightforward – all it takes is a few taps on your device's screen! Plus, since they use Bluetooth technology to connect, you won't need any extra cables or adapters; hold your phone near the Peloton console and wait for the connection to be established.

Once connected, you can stream high-quality audio directly from your Peloton while enjoying an immersive listening experience - without ever having to worry about tangled cords!

Connecting Airpods to Peloton Bike or Tread

AirPods revolutionized how we listen to music, making it convenient with their wireless design. As technology continues to move forward and become more intertwined with our daily lives, connecting your AirPods to your Peloton has become a breeze.

Using Bluetooth technology, you can easily connect your AirPods to your Peloton bike in just a few simple steps.

The first step is to ensure that both of your devices are powered on and within range of each other. 

Open your AirPods and press the pairing button on the back of them. 

 Then open Bluetooth on the Peloton bike. It's under settings in the top right corner of the bike screen console, and select "Bluetooth Devices" from the menu.

Once you have selected this option, find "AirPods" in the list of available devices and click on it. 

Your AirPods will then be connected to the console and ready for use!

After this, you should be all set!

Once you pair them the first time, they should appear as an available device in the Peloton Bluetooth settings.

But I will admit, technology only sometimes works so smoothly, and once in a while, I have had issues with them connecting easily.

This is not unique to the AirPods, I have had issues with the Peloton heart rate monitor, and I have also had the same problems with my other Bluetooth speakers.

This is more of a Bike thing than an issue with the AirPods, but I will share some of my troubleshooting tips.

Using these tips, I am always able to get back going quickly.

Troubleshooting when AirPods won't connect to the Peloton

The first step is refreshing the Bluetooth on the Peloton.

If this does nothing, I turn the Bluetooth on and off.

Still nothing? Sometimes I have to reboot the bike. Especially if there has recently been an update.

If somebody is nearby with AirPods and they open their previously paired AirPods, it can kick yours off.

Sometimes I make the bike forget my husband's AirPods if I need more help connecting (sorry, husband!).

He can always pair them again later.

You can also forget your AirPods on the bike and pair them again from scratch. If you see them there, this is an option, but they just won't connect.

Another option is to ensure the Bluetooth is not defaulting and connecting to another speaker.

Make sure to hit disconnect on that device name in the Peloton Bluetooth settings.

Sometimes I also have found that disconnecting my AirPods from my phone helps. Especially if I have my phone right there next to the bike.

Another issue I have encountered with my AirPods is that they sometimes connect, but the volume is low. I am still trying to understand why this happens. 

Usually, the troubleshooting tips above will solve the volume issue as well.

Note that the AirPods volume during a ride is controlled by the Peloton's volume control on the side of the bike touch screen.

Other headphone options for Peloton

If you're looking for a way to listen to your favorite music while riding on the Peloton, AirPods are an excellent choice. They provide high-quality sound that will make your ride more enjoyable. 

To connect them, hold down the button on the back of the case until it begins flashing white, then select "AirPods" from your Bluetooth device list in settings.

But there are other options for headphones, too – wired or wireless, depending on what suits you best. Wired headphones offer better sound quality but can be cumbersome if you're cycling hard.

Wireless headphones provide convenience, comfort, and noise isolation, so you won't disturb anyone nearby. Some brands even have models specifically designed for sports activities like running or biking - perfect for use with Peloton!

No matter which option, having a good pair of headphones makes any exercise session much more enjoyable.

Conclusion

You can connect AirPods and AirPods Pro to the Peloton cycle or Tread; for me, it is my favorite way to ride.

I love the loud volume and the fact that the bike sound is not bothering anyone else.

This is especially handy while my kids are playing nearby, and the rides can be explicit.

While there can be some minor issues connecting with Bluetooth on the bike, these issues are not unique to AirPods and are easy to solve with the troubleshooting tips above.

The AirPods hold up fine, are not obtrusive during a ride, and sweat doesn't affect them.

When I was in my early thirties, I had my first experience with a herniated disc.

I was doing taekwondo, kickboxing, and running a lot. I am pretty sure that the kickboxing and combo of these contributed.

A herniated disc can sometimes be called a bulging disc but they mean the same thing.

In case you are not familiar with this horrible, usually lower back pain, a herniated disc is when there is a problem with the rubbery cushions (disks) that sit between the bones that make up your spine.

A spinal disk has a soft center encased in a tougher, rubbery exterior. A herniated disk occurs when some of the material between the discs pushes out putting pressure on surrounding nerves.

It can be caused by age-related wear and tear, and activities that require excessive lifting or twisting. 

The resulting pain is usually sharp and localized to the area of the herniation, but it can also radiate outwards and cause numbness in other areas.

Physical activity may be painful with a herniated disc. However, certain exercises can help strengthen the muscles around the spine, reduce inflammation, and alleviate some of the pain associated with this condition. 

What about using a Peloton bike? While it's true that pedaling on an exercise bike won't put any direct strain on your spine, it still requires repetitive movement - something that might exacerbate existing symptoms in some cases. 

You will also need to adjust your posture according to what's comfortable for you - many people find that riding a bike with their back slightly curved helps reduce pain from a herniated disc. 

Of course, it's essential to consult with a doctor before making deciding about exercise when dealing with this condition.

Impact On Physical Activity

The impact of a herniated disc on physical activity can vary greatly from person to person. Some people may be able to engage in most activities they did before their diagnosis, while others may need to adjust or eliminate certain exercises. 

In general, low-impact activities are recommended for those with a herniated disc. Walking, swimming, and even biking are recommended if you are careful and avoid sudden movements that could aggravate symptoms. 

Biking on a Peloton bike could be beneficial as it allows you to pedal at your own pace without putting too much pressure on the spine. 

Additionally, the adjustable resistance levels on Peloton bikes make them ideal for those with varying fitness.

Of course, take precautions when using any exercise equipment - including a Peloton bike. Make sure to start slowly and gradually increase speed and resistance as your body becomes more comfortable with the motion. And if you ever experience pain or discomfort while riding, stop immediately and consult your doctor if needed. 

By following these simple guidelines, you can stay safe while enjoying the many benefits cycling offers to those with a herniated disc.

Exercises to avoid when dealing with a bulging disc

High-impact activities like running and jumping can put too much strain on the spine and exacerbate existing symptoms. 

Any exercise that places excessive pressure on the lower back should also be avoided, such as heavy lifting or contact sports. You should also avoid any activities that involve sudden twisting motions or require you to bend your back in an awkward position.

When it comes down to it, it's all about finding the right balance between staying active and avoiding activities that could worsen your herniated disc symptoms. 

By being mindful of what kinds of exercises are safe for your condition and taking into account how your body responds, you'll be able to find an effective way of staying fit while still protecting your spine at the same time.

Can I cycle with a herniated disc?

I remember at the time the orthopedist I saw told me I would most likely never run again.

As someone who had run track and cross country in the past, this made me pretty sad.

Well after months of physical therapy, my back pain improved a lot.

I then went on to have three children back to back which took a huge toll on my pelvic floor.

Once I was ready to get back in shape after having kids, I seriously wondered what kind of exercise would be best for someone with pelvic issues and a herniated disc?

Cycling and walking were what I was told by my physical therapist.

A couple of weeks later I saw a Peloton commercial (this was 2016!) and I was sold.

Well, I love my Peloton bike and have not looked back since! I am not sure if this was what my therapist had in mind when she said cycling.

I am proof that you can use a Peloton with a herniated disc.

Cycling can also improve your core strength which is also great for recovering from a herniated disc or any kind of lower back pain.

How To Use A Peloton Bike Safely With A Herniated Disc

With a Peloton bike, start slow and gradually increase intensity as your body gets used to the motion. Be sure to keep your posture upright throughout each ride and focus on keeping your core engaged as you pedal. 

Take breaks when necessary, and avoid pushing yourself beyond what your body can handle.

Are there modifications that can be made to the Peloton bike to make it more comfortable with a herniated disc?

It is not uncommon for those with a herniated disc to worry about further injuring themselves when cycling.

However, several modifications can be made to the exercise bike to make it more comfortable and safe.

The most important thing to consider is the position of the seat on a Peloton bike.

The seat should be positioned so that it's hip-level and you should have a slight bend in your knee when on it.

This helps prevent strain on the lower back while cycling, which is especially important for those with a herniated disc as any extra strain could worsen their condition. 

Adjusting the handlebars so that they're higher, and you do not need to lean over as much can help reduce strain on the upper body, and give you more control over your movements.

It's also easy to lower the resistance setting on your Peloton bike to reduce the intensity of your workout and make it easier for someone with a herniated disc to use. 

Overall, there are plenty of modifications that can be made to a Peloton bike to make it more comfortable and safe for someone with a herniated disc. 

Are there any other low-impact exercises that are beneficial for a herniated disc?

Exercising with a herniated disc can be difficult. Finding the right low-impact exercise is important for maintaining fitness and staying healthy. 

When looking for an exercise machine such as the Peloton, consider the kind of low-impact exercises that can be done safely and comfortably with a herniated disc.

A great starting point is to look for exercises or machines that provide support for the lower back and don't put too much strain on the spine.

Stationary bicycles, elliptical trainers, and rowing machines are good options as they provide a low-impact workout without putting too much strain on the back or spine.

I find elliptical trainers pretty boring, but Peloton does have a rowing machine now available. I have not tried it but it could be an option for low-impact exercise as well.

No matter what exercise you choose, it's important to remember that stretching and warming up before you start is essential to maximize your workout without further injuring yourself. 

Always consult your doctor before beginning any new exercise routine.

How long does it usually take to recover from a herniated disc?

Depending on the individual, recovery may be as short as several weeks or as long as several months. That said, it is important to consult with your doctor before attempting any type of exercise to ensure that you can safely and effectively manage your condition.

In my case, it took several months but I have had my back get irritated occasionally for years.

I now know which exercises I need to do to find quick relief when I feel it flare up.

Physical therapy is often recommended for those with herniated discs to reduce pain and inflammation in the area. 

A physical therapist will be able to provide advice on how to best use stretches, strength training, and rehabilitation exercises that are beneficial for recovering from a herniated disc.

I have seen a few people post questions asking about their older Peloton Heart Rate Monitor not working.

When I bought my Peloton bike I got an accessories package with it which included a bike mat, shoes, heart rate monitor, weights, and headphones.

I do think the package was worth it because I got a special on it at the time (hint, this special comes around black Friday and the holidays).

One piece of the package - the heart rate monitor, is something I previously used with the bike all the time.

This post was originally written a few years ago, so I am now updating this post for 2023 because Peloton came out with a new Heart Rate Band in 2022.

Peloton new Heart Rate Band

In 2022 Peloton introduced a new heart rate band that is wearable on your arm, and has optical sensors for measuring heart rate.

The new heart rate band has a rechargeable battery with 10 hours of workout time.

The older heart rate chest strap monitor had a replaceable battery, and it truly was a pain to replace it.

You can get this heart rate band in a size small or large.

The new Peloton heart rate band is considered better than the old Peloton chest heart rate monitor in several other ways:

1. Comfort: The new heart rate band is designed to fit comfortably on the arm, while the chest strap monitor can sometimes feel restrictive or uncomfortable during intense workouts.
2. Accuracy: The arm band uses optical sensors to measure heart rate, which is considered to be more accurate than the chest band's electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors.
3. Convenience: The arm monitor doesn't require a separate chest strap, which makes it more convenient and easier to use than the chest band.
4. Compatibility: The arm monitor is compatible with a wider range of Peloton devices, including the Bike, Bike+, Tread, and Tread+, Guide, while the chest strap is only compatible with select devices.

Overall, the new Peloton heart rate arm monitor offers improved comfort, accuracy, convenience, and compatibility compared to the old Peloton chest strap heart rate monitor.

To pair the Peloton heart rate monitor to the Bike or Tread, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the monitor: Press and hold the button on the monitor until the LED light flashes.
2. Go to the settings menu: On the Bike or Tread, navigate to the settings menu and select "Heart Rate Monitor."
3. Put the monitor in pairing mode: On the settings menu, select "Pair New Device" and follow the prompts to put the monitor in pairing mode.
4. Connect the monitor: The Bike or Tread will search for available devices and should find the Peloton heart rate band. Select the heart rate band and follow the prompts to complete the pairing process.
5. Confirm the connection: Once the pairing is complete, the LED light on the monitor should stop flashing and stay solid, indicating a successful connection. You can now start using the heart rate band during your workouts.

Note: Make sure the heart rate band is within close proximity to the Bike or Tread during the pairing process. If you experience any issues, try restarting the pairing process.

The new Peloton heart rate band will also work with any third-party applications that support standard Bluetooth heart rate monitor profiles.

It does not have ANT+ like the older heart rate monitor.

I got the newer heart rate band when I switched out my Tread+ for the Tread and got an accessories package.

It is so much easier to use than the older heart rate monitor.

I gave up on the old one shortly after I wrote this original post, and moved to using my Apple Watch as my heart rate monitor.

Now that I have received the newer Peloton heart rate band, I am using it again instead of my Apple Watch and I love it.

I believe it's worth the price, but if you can get it as part of an accessories bundle when purchasing a Bike or Tread, even better!

The Peloton new Heart Rate Band retails for $90 and you can find it on Amazon, as well as Peloton's website.

If you are really looking for the old Peloton chest strap heart rate monitor, it is available on Peloton's website for $34.

Peloton Heart Rate Monitor

I got my first Peloton bike in early 2017 and back then the Peloton heart rate chest strap monitor was the best way for me to monitor my heart rate.

The original Peloton heart rate monitor can lose connection sometimes. Back when it was my main monitor, I had to troubleshoot it and call support a few times.

If you are trying to get the original Peloton heart rate monitor connected, read on below.

Peloton uses ANT+ or bluetooth to connect heart rate monitors

A little more about ANT+  

ANT+ is a wireless protocol for monitoring sensor data such as a person's heart rate or a car's tire pressure. ANT+ is designed and maintained by the ANT+ Alliance which is owned by Garmin. It is based on the ANT protocol.

How to use the Peloton heart rate monitor

Make sure you have the heart rate monitor positioned on your body and ready to go.

There is a heart rate monitor connection on the bike.

It is found by joining a class, or by tapping on the time in the top right corner of the touchscreen and choosing "heart rate monitor".

Troubleshooting a Peloton heart rate monitor that stops working

• First check the bluetooth connection to your bike. Even though the Peloton heart rate monitor uses ANT+ to display your heart rate, it still needs to be connected by bluetooth as well.

• This was not intuitive to me and ended up being my problem. Even though they were connected originally, I had an update run and they then became disconnected. So, try connecting bluetooth again as this seems to be the most common issue.

• If your bluetooth connection is still showing but your heart rate monitor is not working, I would still try disconnecting and connecting again to completely rule it out.

• The next obvious item to check is the battery. I replaced my batteries while troubleshooting but they did not end up being my issue. Still, they run out at some point.

• To save battery life unsnap the plastic piece from the band when not riding. When the battery is starting to run out I notice extremely inaccurate heart rate information on the bike so this will give you some idea when it's about to happen.

• The next item to check is the connection on your chest. Knowing how to wear the Peloton heart rate monitor is key. I found as a woman right under my chest was best. Wet the connection pads, this is important, or it won't work. Adjust the monitor around on you till you see it show up connected. The less it moves during a ride the better so I make mine pretty snug.

These are the most common issues I see come up with the Peloton heart rate monitor. If it's still not working for you then it may be faulty and you can call Peloton support. They were ready to send me a new one if I could not get mine working.

Peloton heart rate monitor battery

If you need to check the batteries or replace the battery you can remove it from the back of the heart rate monitor.

The Peloton heart rate monitor uses a 3V Lithium batteries number CR2032.

How to turn the Peloton heart rate monitor on or off

The monitor does not actually turn on and off, but when connected to the strap it is using the battery.

Peloton recommends removing the monitor from the strap when not in use to preserve the battery.

Alternatives to the Peloton Heart Rate Monitor

If you decide you are done with chest straps and would rather have an arm band this one from Schosche has rave reviews and does work with the Peloton bike.

It seems to be one of the most popular heart rate monitors to use with the bike according to the many Peloton groups where I participate.

Wahoo TICKR X Heart Rate Monitor with Memory, Bluetooth/ANT+ 

This is another popular alternative to the peloton monitor.

My husband has this one for his outdoor cycle and also uses it with the Peloton and loves it.

I have heard Garmin heart rate monitors also work well with the Peloton Bike.

Apple Watch now pairs with the Peloton bike

I will write a new post on how to pair them but it is really easy.

This is what I use now since I always wear my Apple watch anyway.

I am a huge Peloton fan having owned the Peloton Bike, the Bike+, the Tread+, and now the Tread.

Like many people, I was dismayed when the Tread plus was recalled, and I did not want to return it.

But ultimately I decided returning it was the right decision for me, so now I can effectively compare the Peloton Tread vs the Tread+.

Peloton Tread+ recall information

You can find all the recall details here on the CPSC website.

Originally the recall notice was given in May 2021, and Peloton Tread+ owners were given until November 2022 to decide whether or not to return the Tread+ for a full refund.

The other option was to keep the Tread+ and wait for a possible fix, but no information about a definite fix has come out.

The CPSC has recommended everyone stop using the Tread+ right away.

How to decide whether to keep the Tread+ or return it?

Immediately there was much debate among Peloton users about whether or not to keep their Tread pluses, or return them.

Everyone needs to make the decision which is best for them. I wrestled with this myself and decided that I would rather be safe than sorry.

You can read some of my thought process here ,which I wrote back when the recall was originally issued.

I waited as long as I could, hoping that a fix would be issued, since there was such a long date for the recall.

But it made me nervous. I have three children and two small dogs.

I don't think my kids would try to use the Tread+ without me, but I feared someone coming up behind me when I was working out, and I would not hear them.

Or someone letting the dogs in, and one of them getting caught behind the Tread+.

They are beyond curious, and definitely not smart enough to stay away.

I got a lock for the gym door, and started locking it whenever I was not there, and when using it.

But I did not love locking myself off while working out either.

As the final recall date got closer, I also worried about what would happen if the Tread+ stopped being supported.

The Peloton Tread plus is huge, around 500 pounds, and impossible to move.

What if it broke down in the future, was no longer supported, and I could not move it, or sell it due to a recall?

People in Peloton Facebook groups have acted like it is easy to sell a Tread+, but I believe it is illegal to sell a recalled product.

Peloton Tread vs Peloton Tread+

So as I analyzed my options, I decided to go check out the smaller, somewhat cheaper, Peloton Tread at my local showroom again.

Ultimately what pushed me to go for it, and decide I wanted to return my Tread+ and purchase the Tread, were a couple of items:

• The technology on the Tread monitor is actually newer, including newer bluetooth and mic. The monitor tilts much further and is newer.
• The actual running space is not much smaller, while the Tread appears much smaller and has a smaller footprint the difference in the running belt space is 60 inches vs 67 inches.
• A new update from Peloton to push auto incline to the Tread only went to the Tread, and not the Tread+.
• The biggest pros for the Tread+ were the slat belt which is a bit more shock absorbing, and the bigger screen which is 32" vs the Tread's 24".
• Those two pros did not outweigh for me the recall, the other positives of the plus, the chance to get a full refund and buy a newer Tread, which would then be under warranty, vs keeping a recalled product out of warranty which may never be fixed.

Tread recall date November 2022 moved to November 2023 and Tread price increase

As November 2022 came closer I decided I was reluctantly going to go ahead and return my Tread+, and purchase the Peloton Tread.

I scheduled my return, and then Peloton and the CPSC announced they were extending the recall until November 2023.

And while I had scheduled the return of my Tread, I had not purchased the new one yet, when Peloton abruptly raised the price on the Tread by $800.

The Tread financing terms also changed around this time, and are not as good as previously.

This gave me major pause, and I promptly cancelled my return to think things over. The price increase timing was the hardest to take.

Why did Peloton extend the recall?

Well according to Peloton, it is because the extended recall is to ensure the safety of all customers who purchased the Peloton Tread+, and to provide them with an opportunity to receive a full refund of their purchase.

There are also rumors swirling that there may be a fix coming for Tread+ in the next year.

But, they are just rumors and nothing is known for certain.

Once I cancelled my Tread+ return I had to think for awhile.

Paying the higher price for Tread hurt after knowing the price I could have paid the entire previous part of the year.

I went ahead with my decision since I knew I still wanted to return the Tread+ for all of the reasons I originally wanted to return it.

I know some users think it is insane to get rid of it, but with small children and dogs in my house I feel safer without the risk.

I waited for black Friday to see if Peloton was going to have any kind of deal on their current Tread to make it less painful, and luckily they did.

Even though it does not make too much sense, it was cheaper to buy the new Tread in a bundle, with accessories.

The financing rates also lowered around black Friday, and have stayed that way through the holidays and continue to be lower today.

There are also still some bundle deals available on Tread today.

How to return the Peloton Tread+ and buy the new Tread

If you would like to return your Tread+ and buy the newer Peloton Tread, you must do the two transactions separately.

Fill out the form on Peloton's website for the Tread+ pick up and return.

You can then order the new Tread whenever you want. It is a separate transaction.

You will be contacted to schedule the pickup of the old Tread, and contacted for the delivery of your new Tread.

Once Peloton receives the old Tread+ your refund will be sent.

When will the Peloton Tread+ be available again?

Seriously, nobody knows. As I said above, there are rumors that a fix may be coming, and the recall has been extended a year, but nothing is known for sure.

So, how does the Peloton Tread compare to the Peloton Tread Plus now that I have it and am using it?

Well, I love the new Tread! I was so worried about the size, but actually like having the much smaller footprint.

We have gained a lot of space back in our gym.

My biggest fear, based on users in the Peloton Tread Facebook group, was that it would feel small or cheap but it does not.

It feels as nice and luxurious as all my other Peloton products.

l love the screen, the openness around it, and not being so high up.

The knobs actually feel more responsive. I do not miss the slat belt as much as I thought I would.

It feels new and fresh, and I am using it more than I was using my Tread+ before the return.

Maybe this is because of the newness and will wear off, but receiving the new Tread got me motivated to get on it more again.

A very common question I have seen is what is the Peloton weight limit on the bike?

According to Peloton the weight limit for the bike is 297 lbs.

And when it comes to height the bike fits riders between 4' 11" and 6' 5".

Is there an age limit?

While I have seen plenty of people let their kids use the bike, the official recommendation from Peloton is 14 years old.

What about a weight limit for the Tread?

Here is the official word from Peloton:

The Peloton Tread is built and tested only for users between 4'11'' and 6'4'' in height, and between 105 and 300 lbs (48 - 136 kg) in weight.

Do I really have to follow the weight limit on the bike?

I am going to go ahead and tell you I have seen many people post that they have used the bike at higher weights and heights.

Do I personally know for sure that this is safe, and will not void the warranty? No, I do not.

If you are researching this purchase I suggest joining some of the Peloton Facebook groups, or checking on Reddit and asking around for others experiences.

Over the years I have seen this question come up many times, and people who are over the weight limit have chosen to go ahead and get the bike.

Is Peloton good for losing weight?

Yes, cycling can be low impact and is a great way to get started exercising when trying to lose weight and add cardio into your routine. I have lost close to 40 pounds since I originally got my bike.

What if I am over the weight limit for Peloton?

What to do if you are over the 297 pound weight limit but have your heart set on the Peloton experience?

If you would rather not risk buying the bike while over the weight limit, the Peloton app is a great option for working out and you do not need the bike to use it at all.

If you have access to a gym you can use any stationary bike with the app and access the Peloton content.

Or buy another brand with a higher weight limit and use the Peloton app.

The app also has strength, pilates, barre, yoga, cardio, running, walking and other types of exercise that does not require any equipment at all.

What is the Peloton bike weight?

Maybe you are not concerned with bike weight limit and only want to know how much does it weigh?

Well in that case the Peloton bike weighs 135 pounds. It is too heavy to pick up and move on your own but it does have wheels on the front which allows you to roll it if needed.

It is still much easier to move with two people helping rather than one.

Conclusion

The Peloton bike weight limit is 297 pounds or approximately 300 pounds. The Peloton Tread weight limit is also 300 pounds.

If you are over this weight limit you can always use the Peloton app with another piece of exercise equipment in the meantime.

I had no idea when I bought my bike what a big part of my life it would become, or the friends I would make.

A common question regarding the app is, "Can I use the Peloton App without a Peloton bike?"

Well the answer is yes, you can definitely use the Peloton digital app without the bike.

With a Peloton digital membership you can access all of the Peloton classes from a phone, smart TV, tablet, or any web browser.

I know many people using the app without a bike and it works great. I also use the app without the bike plenty myself.

You can use the app from your phone, tablet, TV or web browser, this includes iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Android tablets, and most smart TVs.

What is included in the Peloton Digital App?

The Peloton digital app includes all of their live and on demand cycling workouts you find right on the Peloton bike.

This means you can use the app with your own spin bike, your road bike on an indoor trainer, at a hotel, or anywhere you like.

The Peloton digital app includes many types of workouts:

In addition to cycling, the Peloton app has a ton of other types of workouts too. You will find:

Indoor and outdoor running workouts.

Walking workouts.

Strength

Yoga

Pilates

Barre

Boxing (this is new!)

Stretching

Meditation

Bootcamps

Cardio

Dance

If you want to use the app for running or cycling but do not want to spend the money on a Peloton device, you can buy your own bike or treadmill and use the app to access classes.

Many people buy a different brand of bike and use an iPad or other device to watch the workouts. You can add a heart rate monitor as well to have even more information.

There are current challenges going on such as minutes worked out in the year, or monthly miles which are also on the app.

There are Peloton programs that have been put together such as strength training or a core program. There are several of these including marathon training.

Collections of classes curated by Peloton so you can easily find certain types of classes are included on the app too.

The current live schedule is available to app users so you can join a live class from anywhere.

Other features of the Peloton Digital App

The app will sync with other fitness tracking apps so you can overload on data like me. The app will sync with Fitbit, Strava, Apple Health, and Apple Watch.

My Fitness Pal and Lose It can import the workouts via Strava or Apple Health. I am sure there are other apps Peloton works with as well but these are the ones I use.

Another cool feature of the app is that you can start a workout on your iPhone or iPad and it will display on your Apple Watch. The heart rate from your watch will show up on the screen on your phone as well.

Using them together will track your heart rate, pace, and distance.

The app is available on Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets, Roku, and on Apple TV.

I have used the app on all of these TVs and it works great on all of them.

How much does the Peloton Digital App cost?

The current Peloton digital app price is $12.99 a month and totally worth it in my opinion.

After hearing me talk about Peloton for a couple of years my mom decided to give the app a try when they started offering 30 day free trials.

My mother is an outdoor cyclist and already has an indoor spin bike so she really did not need the full Peloton cycle.

She was hooked after a couple of uses and now is a regular subscriber.

So what is missing with the app only versus getting the Peloton Bike or Tread?

The leaderboard and metrics are the main differences for cycling and running with the app only.

If you have a Peloton machine you will have built in metrics letting you know your cadence, resistance, where you are on the leaderboard, heart rate if you have that set up, and other screen metrics.

The leaderboard will be displayed for app riders as a here now leaderboard, with people riding at the same time but you will not have metrics.

When you buy a Peloton Bike or Tread you will pay for the all access subscription which is $39.99 a month. Sometimes people wonder why this costs more than the digital app subscription alone.

This is mainly due to the additional metrics you get on the bike and Tread. If you own the Peloton bike or Tread it will be worth it for the more expensive subscription.

According to Peloton here are the differences:

You'll have unlimited access to a growing library of live streaming and on-demand classes, scenic rides, challenges, and real-time performance tracking. No classes offered by Peloton are off-limits. There are a few things that need to happen before you get started. I am going to describe the process here. I am on my second bike since I upgraded from a regular bike to the bike plus, and I also have a Peloton Tread.

Therefore, I feel pretty familiar with the delivery and setup experience.

Read on for more information.

Moving the Peloton Bike

Typically the delivery team will move the bike into the space you designate, but if you do need to move it there are wheels on the front so you can roll it.

The bike is over 100 pounds so Peloton recommends having two adults move it.

Attaching the touchscreen

The screen can be removed and reattached by unplugging the cable and unscrewing it. I have done this when I moved and it is easy to do.

Turning the Peloton bike on

This is the easy part! There is a plug and power jack that comes with your bike. Plug the power jack and plug into the bike, and then into the wall.

Once the bike is plugged in simply press the button on the back of the touchscreen to turn the bike on.

Connect to WiFi, activate your Peloton account, and create your leaderboard name

Once your touchscreen is on you can connect to your Wifi and activate your account.

Sometimes the delivery team sticks around to help with this part. If you have not setup yet and you want help ask them to stay and help.

If they have left and you are doing this after the fact don't worry it's easy.

Activating your subscription will use the email you used at purchase or there may be an activation key on the screen. Once you get past this step you can create your leaderboard name.

This is the name you use on the bike to follow people and be found by friends.

Get started cycling

Once you are done with these steps you are ready to go! This should not take more than a couple of minutes.

Super easy right? Peloton has tons of beginner content and programs to check out, so now the fun part of figuring out where to get started begins.

I can find it overwhelming when starting something new, so I suggest trying one of the beginner programs such as You Can Ride, found under Programs.

Of course you can just hop on and do any ride you like you but the intro programs can be helpful if you like structure.

Do I need to turn off the Peloton bike overnight?

This is a common question related to the bike. It is not recommended to turn your bike off every night.

Usually I do not turn my bike off at all.

How to turn off Peloton screen?

The power button on the back of the touchscreen can be used to put the bike in "sleep mode".

I do press this sometimes to quiet the screen when I am done working out.

Does the Peloton screen turn off automatically?

Yes, If you do nothing the screen will go into sleep mode on its own after a short amount of time.

If you absolutely want to turn the bike off you will need to unplug it. The benefit to turning it off would be if you are worried about the energy it is using.

Sometimes for troubleshooting an issue turning it off and on can help too.

In general I leave my bike on because this way it is easy to start up quickly, and it gets all updates while I am away from it.

Peloton won't turn on

If you are having trouble getting the bike to turn on my first recommendation is to check all of your connections and plugs.

This is always the most common issue.

If the Peloton screen won't turn on, again I would check the cable coming from the screen to the bike, and make sure the connection is secure.
