<p>Amazon has recently come out with a new <a href="http://amzn.to/2sy6Q3O" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fire HD 8 Kids Edition </a>tablet. I have the Fire Kids Edition 7 and love it but seeing the new improvements is making me kind of want a new one. Isn't that always the story with tech?</p>

<p>I consider the Fire Kids Edition my favorite children's tablet and you can <a href="https://momtechblog.com/my-favorite-kids-tablet" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">read why at my review here</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here are a few reasons the Fire Kids Edition is so popular:</h2>

<div class="a-column a-span5 block-content block-type-text textalign-left">
<div class="content-grid-block">
<p>Amazon FreeTime Unlimited has over 15,000 books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games. The Fire <a href="https://momtechblog.com/echo-dot-kids-edition-a-smart-speaker-with-alexa-for-kids">Kids Edition</a> includes a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited for free. After the first year the cost is reasonable.</p>
<h3>Comes with a strong case and a two year worry free guarantee.</h3>
<p>Yes, this means if your <a href="https://momtechblog.com/tablet-organizer-stand-with-docking-solution-for-kids-tablets">kid breaks their tablet</a> Amazon will replace it. I went through this recently myself when my daughter broke her screen. (We had made it about three years without incident!). Replacing her Fire was super easy.</p>

<div class="a-column a-span5 block-content block-type-text textalign-left a-span-last">
<div class="content-grid-block">
<h3>Easy to use parental controls</h3>
<p>Each Fire Kids Edition can have up to four child profiles. Time limits can be set for play and all content is controlled by us the parents. Kids cannot download anything that costs money and do not have access to the internet.</p>
<h3>But there is a kid friendly web browser</h3>
<p>The browser offers a <a href="https://momtechblog.com/keeping-our-children-safe-online-with-new-tools-available-to-parents">safe experience and parents</a> can add the websites they would like.</p>
<h3>Here are the specs from Amazon:</h3>

<ul class="a-unordered-list a-vertical a-spacing-none wp-block-list"><li style="text-align: left;"><em><span class="a-list-item">Up to $144 in savings on Fire HD 8 tablet, 1 year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, and a Kid-Proof Case, plus a 2-year worry-free guarantee</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">Not a toy, a full-featured Fire HD 8 tablet with a vibrant HD display, 32 GB internal storage, and up to 12 hours of mixed-use battery life. Add a microSD card for up to 256 GB of expandable storage.</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">2-year worry-free guarantee: if they break it, return it and we'll replace it for free. No questions asked.</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">One year of FreeTime Unlimited gives you access to 15,000 popular apps and games, videos, books, and <a href="https://momtechblog.com/crayola-create-and-play-app-an-educational-and-artistic-app-for-kids">educational content from PBS Kids</a>, Nickelodeon, Disney, and more</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">Add even more content to your <a href="https://momtechblog.com/unglue-an-app-to-end-screen-time-battles-with-your-child-and-keep-them-safe-online">child’s profile in FreeTime to give them selected access to apps</a> in your personal library, such as Netflix, YouTube, and Minecraft</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">Best-in-class parental controls allow you to manage usage limits, content access, and educational goals</span></em></li><li><em><span class="a-list-item">Amazon Parent Dashboard with Discussion Cards enables parents to discover the titles their kids enjoy and connect with them through rich conversations about these titles</span></em></li></ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Amazon-Fire-HD-8-Kids-Edition-Tablet/dp/B01J94SBEY/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1497971138&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=kids+kindle+fire&amp;linkCode=li3&amp;tag=momtechblog-20&amp;linkId=b081a477275fb38755281bf5d5070c65" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B01J94SBEY&amp;Format=_SL250_&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=momtechblog-20" alt="" width="250" height="250" border="0"></a>Upgrades on the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition versus the Fire 7 Kids Edition</h2>

<div id="btfContent5_feature_div" class="feature" data-feature-name="btfContent5">
<div id="" class="content-grid-row-wrapper">
<div class="a-row">
<div class="a-column a-span5 block-content block-type-text textalign-left a-span-last">
<p>So you might be wondering what you get for an additional $30. Here you go:</p>
<p>8" high definition touchscreen vs 7" screen.</p>
<p>1280 x 800 resolution vs&nbsp;1024 x 600.</p>
<p>12 hour battery life vs 8 hour.</p>
<p>Included storage of 32 GB (vs 16GB) and expandable up to 256GB.</p>
<p>Duel stereo speakers vs Mono speaker on 7.</p>
<p>While I only have the older Fire 7 version I am sure this new version works just as well. Every new version has had some great upgrades over the last one and this is no exception. If you really prefer a smaller screen stick with the 7, otherwise the new Fire HD Kids Edition is more than worth it for only a small price increase.</p>
<p>The new Fire Kids Edition comes with a choice of pink, blue, or yellow case.</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://amzn.to/2sy6Q3O" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">You can find it here on Amazon of course!</a></strong></p>
